How to Use Polemiq

A quick guide to starting and participating in a debate.

1

Create a debate room

From the home page, click Create Arena. A unique room is instantly created with a shareable URL like polemiq.org/bold-tiger-4291.

2

Share the link

Copy the room URL and send it to your opponent. Anyone else with the link can join as a spectator and watch in real time. The room is open — no invite codes or accounts needed.

3

Claim your side

Inside the arena, click Join as Alpha or Join as Omega to lock in your debater role. The first person to join becomes Alpha; the second becomes Omega. You cannot switch sides or represent both sides in the same debate.

4

Submit arguments in turns

Alpha goes first. Each participant has up to 800 characters per argument. After you submit, the turn passes to your opponent. A 30-minute activity lock keeps the debate moving — if your opponent is idle, their lock expires and you can reclaim the turn.

The debate runs for a maximum of 6 rounds (3 arguments per side) and concludes automatically.

5

Vote on arguments (spectators)

Spectators can upvote (+1) or downvote (−1) any argument based on its logical quality. You get one vote per argument — but you can change your mind by voting again. Voting does not affect the AI verdict, but it adds a crowd-sourced layer of feedback.

6

Read the AI verdict

Once the debate concludes, an AI judge evaluates all arguments and produces a scored verdict: a logic score, a factuality score, a written summary, and a winner — either Alpha, Omega, or Draw. Past debates with verdicts are searchable on the home page.
